VINTAGE TRANSFORMERS JR COLLECTION: HERO PACK CHROMEDOME, OPTIMUS PRIME, FORTRESS MAXIMUS & TRYPTICON

Transformers Jr line was originally called Transform Gokin, made by Seven, a subsidiary of Takara in the 1980s. These were smaller and cheaper toys made as an alternative to the more expensive ST and DX versions. Many years ago, I acquired the Transformer Jr Convoy (Optimus Prime) and was reviewed here in my old blog:

But Wix platform actually removed the images (and many images of my toys from my blog). These are my images from my own collection, not snip and paste from the internet. This single pack is rarer and harder to find in the secondary market.

As for the Hero-Pack - I bought this in June 2024. What prompted me to invest in this is the Fortress Maximus and Chromedome, In this 3 pack, you get not 3 but 5 robots!

TF Jr Hero Pack

Year Released : 1991

Status - Very Rare

eBay SOLD Price: No Data available. (Note TF Jr Grand Maximus single figure which is a recolored version of Fortress Maximus was SOLD for USD333.93 + USD66.79 shipping in May 2024.)

eBay ASKING Price Range: USD270 - 500 (+ USD92 shipping) Condition : MIB.

Chromedome and Optimus have diecast-metal chest. As for Fortress Maximus, I think only the crotch piece is diecast metal. So where's the extra 2 robots? Chromedome and F Maximus are Headmasters. Their heads can be detached and they form the upper part of the robots. Two pair of 'legs' are included to peg to these heads and you have the additional mini robots. These two legs attachment are super small and can be easily lost. Very unique and cool feature for a cheap toy back in those days. (Not cheap now)

Chromedome and Optimus joints are super tight. Didn't want to transform them risking breakage as these toys are over 30 years old. However I managed to transform Fortress Maximus.

Optimus also comes with his cardboard trailer. Overall quite happy with this purchase despite its hefty price tag. So far, there are no sign of remakes or reissues of these toys.

TF JR TRYPTICON D-63

Year Released : 1987

Status: Super Rare

eBay SOLD Price - USD262 + USD67.37 Shipping in May 2024. Condition MIB without stickers

I bought this at a jackpot price! Found a sale post in FB. Initially was worried that it's a scam due to the low price for a vintage G1 complete toy with box!! Decided to take my chances anyway because of the way below market price.  It arrived today (7 July 2024).

The parts are a movable gun, two long ramps and two short ramps. I couldn't figure out the diecasts metal part, it seem the whole figure is made of plastic. It does have some weight for a small figure but not as hefty as Optimus. The neck is chromed and some parts do looks like metal.

The panel fold out to form the helipad. (pic below)

Play gimmick is just a simple transformation to city mode. It would be great if I can find some mini keshigomu transformers figures to  place in the city/base mode of this and Fortress Maximus.
This single pack is pretty rare.
